"HIDDEN CODED MESSAGES IN OUR DNA-THE ALIEN STRATEGY?"
by Bob Buck

In the 'StarChild' article I touched on the more than likely probability of genetic manipulation of our DNA by extraterrestrials. And that this has been happening since the beginning of Mankind's development to a sentient being. I stated the evidence is leading to the conclusion that our evolution could not have been purely by chance through natural selection. If the data is looked at closer and biases kept to a minimum another possibly answer comes to mind. As most of us that follow national and international news are aware, science has come of age in the field of 'genetic engineering' with the cloning of Dolly, the sheep, being a prime example. As amazing as that was scientists since then have come across discoveries just as profound if not more so. In the June 10 issue of the journal 'Nature' an article tells of a group of researchers lead by molecular biologist Carter Bancroft at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York making and then mailing a coded hidden message in a dot of human DNA referred to as a 'microdot'. This microdot was a DNA strand built by the researchers where different combinations of amino bases or nucleotides represented the letters of their message. On both ends of this strand they embedded sequences of amino bases that would serve as a key to finding the strand. The microdot was first mixed with grounded up pieces of DNA of about equal length taken from a human cell.

Then the mixture of the message strand and the millions of strands of DNA were soaked into paper with a period printed on it. They cut out the period and pasted it on a letter. The researchers then mailed the letter to themselves to prove the DNA could survive the rigors of the U.S. mail. Upon arrival the microdot was extracted from millions of strands of DNA. The message was then read which was chosen from maybe the most famous secret of the microdot era: "June 6 invasion: Normandy." Without knowing the key, it would be nearly impossible to locate the message among the over 3 million or so similar strands of DNA. This research find brings up many intriguing possibilites. One of which is the focus of this article. Could we have not only been genetically altered by various alien races but also have encoded hidden messages embedded in our own DNA structure as well? Waiting to be opened at a particular sequence of events or 'time frame'?

This theory may not be as farfetched as it first appears. If we can make such strives in genetic engineering and nano-technologies in the brief time we been expertimenting, image what an alien race could do with these same technologies from hundreds or thousands, perhaps millions of years in advance on us. Why should we believe that an advance species taking part in this planet's affairs would treat humans differently than say researchers on this planet who work in improving genetic characteristics of various plants and animal species. Though self interest is a factor both would view it as a benefit to the species involved, would they not? Then if this being the case, could these same aliens not bring it just one step further. Similar but not quite the same as the case with the "microdot' expertiment.

It has been known for some time in the scientific community studying the fields of evolutionary biology and genetics that there is really no hard evidence that evolution through natural selection occurs on a 'macro' level. Though on a smaller level of microevolution natural selection appears to be valid. "Variety" in species where small changes occur to a particular type of animal or plant show that natural selection does occur on a small scale. Species of animals and plants can adapt to changing conditions for survial by creating new varieties in the species or by allowing one variety of a species to take hold in a particular niche. An example is the peppered moth of Great Britain of the last century. Two varieties of this moth were occupying the same niche during the beginning of the industrial revolution, a peppered variety and a black variety. At the start of the industrial revolution the peppered moth greatly outnumbered the black type because they were almost invisible on many of the surrounding trees to predators. But as the revolution progressed in England many of the tree trunks became black near industrial centers allowing the peppered variety to stand out to predators while the black variety became near invisible. The black variety then became the dominant type while the peppered kind greatly decreased. This shows a clear case of natural selection at work but does not represent a major change in the organism for the peppered moth did not become a new species.

In Robert Augros and George Stanciu book, "The New Biology:Discovering Wisdom in Nature" they state that the fact no new phyla has arisen since the Cambrian epoch, a period of 600 million years, argues against neo-Darwinism. If adaptions in organisms are the result of the accumulation of small randon changes through natural selection as neo-Darwinism implies then why have no new basic body types or phyla evolved since the Cambrian era? Good question. If evolution occurs on the macro-level as the materialistic-humanistic movement; spear-headed by the mainstream traditional scientists; would have you believe than new phyla, classes and orders of animals should be showing up in prescribed fashion as neo-Darwinism suggests. A good case in point to show that macro-evolution is a farce perpetrated by the mainstream scientific community is to understand the mechanisms that allow organisms to evolve. The key to this is by having a basic knowledge of genetics. Gene frequency is the mechanism by which any organism, either plant or animal, evolves.

Whether we are talking of macro-evolution or micro-evolution gene frequency gives organisms the ability to adapt to their varied and often changing niches. Gene frequency can be directional in nature that goes towards fixation or equilibrium between two or more alleles(two individual genes in a particular gene pair); prime example being genetic engineering. Or the gene frequency can cause changes in the alleles that can go in one direction or another from generation to generation without any predictable constancy. This is nondirectional where variable sampling of the gene pool from each generation is known as "random genetic drift". This nondirectional gene frequency would be the mechanism of natural selection in its true form if neo-Darwinism can be taken as a accurate depiction of adaptation. Random genetic drift can be proven by its mathematical formula which formulates a standard deviation of mutation rate.

By this I mean that natural selection as understood by random genetic drift would mutate the genetic makeup of a given set of organisms at a particular fixed rate. In other words, mutations in organisms occur at a certain rate where a set number of genetic changes will take place in a given time frame. To understand this properly one needs to be aware that though the changes will first be noticed from the internal chemical or gene level which effects the genotype(the genetic factors that influences the appearance of an organism), it takes an extended period of time before the adaptations will be noticeable on the organism's phenotype( physical appearance of an organism). [For those interested reference was taken from "Genetics" by Monroe Strickberger]Taken this all into account and that mutations under the laws of natural selection will occur at fixed rates brings up some interesting contradictions as it applies to the theory of neo-Darwinism.

Let us look into this further.
